Jennifer Kugel Fritz, Psy. D.
Director of Behavorial Health
Location: Alpine Family Medicine
Dr. Jennifer Kugel Fritz graduated from Boston College with a degree in Philosophy in 1999 and took additional undergraduate coursework in Psychology at Rutgers University in NJ. She obtained her Masters of Arts in Clinical Psychology in 2004 and her Doctorate of Psychology in Clinical Psychology in 2010 from Alliant International University. She has been licensed as a Clinical Psychologist since 2011. Dr. Fritz has experience facilitating men’s groups for California’s Domestic Violence Recovery Program, providing psychotherapy at a college counseling center, and working as a Program Coordinator in a dual-diagnosis, short-term, psychiatric residential facility. She has been working at Mountain Health and Community Services at their Alpine location, providing outpatient individual psychotherapy services to children and adults since 2011. She works with patients who are struggling with mild mental health difficulties, as well as, more serious and persistent mental health disorders. Dr. Fritz’s therapeutic approach incorporates mindfulness-based and experiential techniques, in addition to more traditional cognitive-behavioral and insight-oriented methods.
Paula Maness, Psy. D.
Location: Mountain Health Family Medicine
Dr. Maness is a clinical psychologist licensed by the California Board of Psychology. She is alumna from San Diego State University and the California School of Professional Psychology obtaining her doctorate degree in 2007. During her career, Dr. Maness has worked as both as a provider and as a director in Native and rural communities, correctional and detention facilities, residential, and sub-acute programs. Dr. Maness has well-demonstrated expertise and interest in forensic populations, Trauma Focused Therapy, and Co-occurring Disorders within rural practices.
Tina Wolfe, Psy. D.
Location: Santee Family Medicine
Dr. Tina Wolfe is a licensed clinical Psychologist who graduated from Alliant International University in 2013. Dr. Wolfe began her studies at the University of California Riverside where she graduated with honors with a Bachelor in Arts in Psychology in 2005. She went on to pursue her Master of Arts in Clinical Psychology at Alliant where she later obtained her Doctorate. Dr. Wolfe’s dissertation utilized the MMPI-2-RF and was funded in part by a grant from the University of Minnesota Press Test Division. Dr. Wolfe has a passion for psychological testing and has utilized this in medical-legal reports for Worker’s Compensation and SIBTF evaluations. Although no longer working in this field, Dr. Wolfe enjoys working with patients to utilize behavioral strategies, relaxation techniques and cognitive behavioral therapy in the management of health and pain outcomes. Throughout her career Dr. Wolfe has worked both inpatient and outpatient, as well working with patients both on a short-term and long-term basis. Dr. Wolfe focuses on coping skills and evidenced based treatments with her patients and strongly believes in the therapeutic relationship.
Jeff Winter, Ph.D.
Location: Community Heights Family Medicine
Dr. Winter graduated from George Washington University with a B.A. in Psychology and subsequently received a Masters Degree from the University of Maryland and his Doctorate from United States International University in 1979. He has been licensed as a Clinical Psychologist since 1981 and has extensive experience working with Adults and Adolescents dealing with issues that impact their lives. His background and expertise in Motivational Interviewing and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy combine to focus therapy and treatment on issues that the client sees as most important to them.
With over 35 years of experience working with individuals and families, Dr. Winter provides individualized treatment planning in conjunction with the client to best address their needs. A fundamental principle of Dr. Winter’s practice is that the client is actively involved in determining treatment goals and decision making.
The combination of many years of clinical experience in the practice of Psychology in conjunction with principled coaching model where the agenda of the client takes precedence creates an atmosphere of mutual respect and trust where desired behavioral and cognitive changes can most likely be accomplished.
Dr. Shant Barmak’s, Psy.D.
Location: Alpine Family Medicine, Part Time
Shant A. Barmak, PsyD, is a licensed psychologist with a passion for helping individuals to overcome obstacles in their life. He specializes in providing therapy for children, adolescents, and families. He is particularly skilled at depression, anxiety, relationship issues, stress management, transitions, helping families manage behavioral concerns, learning differences, and school related concerns. He utilizes an integrative approach applying mindfulness, CBT, and psychodynamic therapy depending on the needs of the client. He is personable with a sense of humor. The strengths he brings as a therapist include being an adept listener and his creativity in how he approaches helping individuals and families reach their goals.
Dr. Barmak has worked extensively with children of all ages, families, and adults in a variety of professional settings. As a psychologist his career has included a diverse background including positions in community outpatient clinics, schools, private practice settings, and as psychological and educational consultant. He also has been a clinical supervisor and training director in an education setting. His desire to advance his understanding of how to meet the education needs of diverse populations in education prompted him to pursue advanced study in education leadership at UCSD.
Professional affiliations he has maintained include the San Diego Psychological Association, the California Psychological Association, the California Marriage and Family Therapists, and the San Diego Psychoanalytic Center.
